'Dasavatharam', the most hyped movie of the year 2008 with Kamal Haasan and Asin in the lead roles comes out on the 13th june. ‘Dasavatharam' is a class in itself. For it features Kamal in ten different roles. K S Ravikumar is directing this mega budget movie for Oscar Ravichandran. Himesh Reshammiya from Bollywood is scoring the music. This is his debut in Kollywood. Kamal, always known in the industry for trying out something new, is handling ten different roles in this movie. It looks like he is trying to break the record of Sivaji Ganesan's nine roles in ‘Navaratri'.The movie starts in the 12th century with a very impressive beginnng .the first half of the movie is very good untill it slows down with the introduction of asin .asin potrays a very irritating role although her role as andaal is very impressive .The love story between the lead pair is not very convincing .The songs could have actually been better placed .The make-up aspect of the film is very inspiring and is worth a grand applause because it takes the audience some time to believe that they are seeing kamal in all the 10 roles .The graphics could be improved .Overall the movie is definetely worth more than a watch .

Pandurangadu

This film is a remake of NTR’s classic Panduranga Mahatyam. The story is about the redemption of a flirt and of an irresponsible son. The writer of the film had lot of limitations because of the original. The characterization and exposing of Tabu character is gone beyond the limits though her character is supposed to be that of a prostitute. Direction by K Raghavendra Rao is adequate. But he could not get the emotions work in this film the way he has done for Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu
Cast: Bala Krishna, Mohan Babu, Tabu, Sneha, Suhasini, Archana, Viswanath, Balayya, LB Sreeram, Dharmavarapu, Sunil, Ali, Brahmanandam, Meghana Naidu, Anant, Y Vijaya
Music :MM Keeravani
Dialogues: JK Bharavi
Cinematography: Jayaram

Screenplay & Direction: K Raghavendra Rao
Release date: 30 May 2008
The original Panduranga Mahatmyam remained a classic due to excellent characterisation of all the roles .The present version although it does not surpass the standards set by the older version it has good elements necessary for a wonderful film. It has the devotional and the commercial aspects of a film. Music by M.M. Keeravani is very good and is the plus point the movie .Screenplay and Tabu's performance is not satisfactory. Balakrishna's performance is very inspiring and his role as lord krishna makes us all remember annagaru NTR once more . Overall the movie is a Must watch for nbk fans and a good flik for devotional and classical film lovers. For the general C - D class audience,it is an above average movie . The movie has opened with good reviews.

This telugu mass masala flick has proved ntr's stamina once more at the box office .With all the commercial elements of a mass movie the movie is well paced and action packed . It starts off with a very good introductory scene in which the star comes out on a cycle out with some power packed punch dialogues like"ika medata cycle meda evaru raaru anukunaara ,raa leeru annukunaara?"The first song has powerful elements of style and the song's video sets the theatres on fire !!The first half is well paced and the comedy-action balance is well maintained without boring the audience.Although the pace of the movie slows down in the second half the twist towards the end is good and the fight that follows it is even better and then the movie finishes off with the normal"hero kills the villain" note .NTR's energising performance, his stylish look, his well performed dances are good enough to pull the movie for a box office bumper hit .The movie is rumoured to have made 32 crores in 20 days !!

Jalsa

'Pawan Kalyan' gave an excellent performance after a long time. He really reminded his fans the days of ‘Khushi’ and ‘Tholiprema’ in this movie. His attire everything were very simple and resembled a true college student. His comedy timing was exceptional. Really he made the audiences burst into laughter with his hilarious comedy in the entire first half. However, director Trivikram loosened his grip on the character for quite some time in the second half, but the hero turned powerful in the climax.Ileana, Unlike her previous films, was not seen as a glamour doll by exposing her belly button or waist. "Maa TV Colours" fame Swathi voice suited her well. Her character was quite modest and she is very homely in the film with a girl in the next-door kind of image. Parvati Melton went a little overboard with her sex appeal and oomph dress and dance. Kamalini appears only in a couple of scenes and has not much role. Mukesh Rushi as a powerful factionist justified his role. Especially, the director chose a stylish taking of scenes involving even the villain, without going for unnecessary and unwanted scenes. Prakash Raj, Ali, Sunil, Uttej and others did justice to their respective roles. Again it is Brahmanamdam who stole the show with good comedy.Although the film was boring in bits ....The comedy element and pawan's energising performance added the value of the film. The audio remained a chart buster for few weeks and almost all the FM channels continue to play the songs, which made them further popular. When it comes to choreography, not all the songs but only few were shot well. The first song in the film was adequate. Srikar Prasad's editing was crisp. As far as action scenes, they were in true style of Trivikram Srinivas. Action scenes choreographed by Vijay were a little stylish. Camera work by Guhan and Rasool is first-rate. Director Trivikram Srinivas, who shouldered the responsibility of providing story, dialogues, screenplay and direction, succeeded in each department in parts. While the dialogues with a comedy touch were outstanding, the emotional dialogues before the interval bang was quite lengthy and powerful. Mahesh babu’s voice over is another highlight of the movie.Jalsa completed 50 days in 282 centres, and got 42 crores in 50 days.

Kuruvi

Kuruvi is a Tamil masala and action film. Directed and co-written by Dharani and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin its stars Vijay, TrishaKrishnan and Suman in the lead roles. Vivek, Ashish Vidyarthi, Manivannan and Malavika played other roles in the movie. The film revolves around a son who declares revenge on the villain, who betrayed and caused the mysterious disappearance of his father by stealing a diamond. The son in his attempt to recover his dues ends up stealing the villain’s precious diamond and also wins the heart of his sister, who runs away with him to Chennai to avoid a marriage with her brother’s henchman. How the son single handedly takes on the mining mafia and finally annihilates them, forms the crux of the story. The 2nd half of the movie is said to be a lame copy of the 1st half of the telugu film chatrapathi .Prior to release, Kuruvi, became high anticipated due to the combination of the director and the lead actors who had previously created the 2004-blockbuster Ghilli. The film opened to Indian audiences after several delays, on 3rd May 2008 to mixed reviews.

Santosh subramaniyam

Jayam Ravi as Santosh

Genelia D'Souza as Hasini
Prakash Raj as Subramaniam (Santosh's dad).

Sayaji Shinde as Govindan (Hasini's dad).

Geetha as Lakshmi (Santosh's mom)

Santhanam as Satti.

The film is a remake of the successful Telugu language film, Bommarillu, which post-release sparked off a battle in Tamil film industry for the remake rights. Apart from Tamil, efforts to remake this film in Hindi with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, popular actors from the Bollywood, were unsuccessful, but Anees Bazmee has recently announced the remake, It's My Life, with Harman Baweja playing the role opposite D'Souza, who plays the charcter for the third time.

The film primarily revolves around a father and son relationship with the father's dote on his son ironically leaving a bitter taste with the latter. The son's choices and his wants to achieve something in life are always subdued by his father's. The father has a justification in the form of his dream, that is to build a dream house. When it comes to his son's marriage, the son breaks his shackles of respect only to experience the newly found independence. The film concludes with the father's repentance on his foolishness and the happy marriage of the protagonists .

yaaradi nee mohini...

Yaaradi Nee Mohini is a Tamil remake of the superhit Telugu film Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule. Dhanush replaced Venkatesh and Nayantara replaced Trisha, whilst Karthik Kumar was also in the cast. The music for the film was scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the film released on April 4, 2008
Vasu (Dhanush) is from a middle-class family. He makes several bids to obtain employment but all goes in vain due to his poor language skills and inadequate educational qualifications. All his friends settle in life but he continues to struggle to secure employment. Vasu has two good friends Cheenu (Karthik Kumar) and another friend Ganesh (Karunaas). His father (Raghuvaran) who was a teacher, always chided him for being an irresponsible person. This just added to his list of woes.
At this juncture, Vasu catches a glimpse of Keerthi (Nayanthara) and its love at first sight for him. He learns that she works for a software solutions firm. Luckily for him, Vasu finally secures employment in the same firm. Keerthi is a short-tempered young woman. Once, Vasu accompanies her along with two other colleagues (Jeeva and Manobala) to Australia. Here he reveals his feelings of love to her. She refuses him saying that she came from an orthodox family and her marriage was also arranged with her uncle's son.
A depressed Vasu returns to India thereafter. Unable to see his son in depression, his father meets Keerti. She abuses him for recommending his son's love and accidentally slaps both Vasu and his father. That night, Vasu's father dies of heart attack. In order to help change Vasu's mood, Cheenu takes him to his house. Coincidentally, Keerthi happens to be the financee of Cheenu and both of them are engaged to be married. However, their grandfather's (K. Viswanath) thoughts of getting them married earlier are put aside because Cheenu and Keerthi leave the house to have their own identity. This causes heartburn to their grandfather.
After a couple of years, the parents of Keerthi and Cheenu decide to get them married to appease their grandfather. After several turn of events, Keerthi realizes that she was in love with Vasu as well. Vasu asks her to forget him because he believes that it would create problems in their happy family. But, Cheenu himself notices them converse and stops the marriage by lying that he is already married and was forced to marry now. When Vasu tells them the truth, he is driven out of the house only to be joined by the grandma of the house. Finally, everyone come to stay with Vasu for a few days except Cheenu's grandfather. He is still angry with Vasu and tells him that he will try to change himself somehow and will need some time .The movie has good credits to its story .With good family audiences showing up for the movie the movie is definitely a summer bonanza .
